Below is a transcript of an interview that Paul gave fan who attended one of the gigs in 2006.

When did u first realise your Bowie likeness?

It probably started in my late teens.

 I was being told by plenty of people that I sounded like him when doing the occasional cover song with different bands.   

How did you feel about Bowie before you discovered this?

I was a little kid when Ziggy was around. I had the pics and posters all over my bedroom walls.

 I was absolutely overwhelmed with his songs .

I grew up with all kinds of influences but Bowie remained at the forefront. 

How do you feel performing?

I love performing. It’s another world where I feel in control of everything.

 It can be quite surreal at times.

Could u perform as yourself or do you feel that Bowie acts as a mask to allow you 2 perform?

I can quite easily perform as myself as I have done with my own material.

 Playing a different character, especially with Bowie’s personas can be very powerful.

 I suppose I do feel like I lose some of my own identity with it at times.

Would you say the reincarnation of you as Bowie has any sexual qualities? For you and others?

I don’t really know how the audience feels.

There is a sexual energy with playing the part but I don’t feel any different being myself or playing the part of Bowie.

Do u reimburse yourself in your act e.g.… you are Bowie when dress as him?

I love dressing up.

No excuses there lol. I put myself 100% into the role models whether it’s Ziggy or Thin White Duke or David as himself.

                 Would you say that you use Bowie as an alter ego?              

The alter ego is easy to hide behind. It makes a great mask and also helps to hide away any shyness.

The introvert takes a back seat for the extravert, so I do play on it.

Are you most comfortable as yourself or as Bowie?

I am comfortable with myself as I don’t have to try to be a character.

 With Bowie I thoroughly enjoy it but I am aware that it’s acting the part and is more demanding.

How much research have you had to do for your act?

None at all. Been watching him too many times !!

Many Bowie fans have an incredible knowledge of his stage performances.

Do you view yourself as an actor as well as a singer?

That is a difficult one. I suppose because Bowie is very theatrical I do have to include some acting with it.

I wouldn’t know myself if I could be an actor although I am interested in that field

If you could chose one person through history to impersonate who would it be?

Not sure at this moment, probably someone with a strong stage presence.

It would have to be someone quite unique in their style. I would have to think about that one.

Do you prefer yourself as you or Bowie?

It depends on what kind of day I’m having lol

Does your Bowie act have escapist qualities for you?

Oh definitely. I’m a Pisces so escapism is my forte.

Does performing have any sexual qualities for you?

It does create a sexual charge.

There is some strange kind of chemistry working when performing which I can sometimes feel with the audience,

 but I’m never quite sure how it makes them feel

It can feel quite intimate at times

Have you always wanted to perform?

Yes. I started at a young age, probably at junior school discos.
