Carl - Lead Guitar

The first time I picked up my dad’s guitar was at the age of 2.It wasn’t too long before he realised that the guitar was the only thing that I didn’t destroy and decided that I could do with my a guitar of my own .As time went on I progressed from making a noise on 1 string to using 6 strings and making a noise that some people could recognise!

Throughout my school life, I played everyday for hours which kept me out of trouble and was the only activity that I could really concentrate on and enjoy! I started off listening to Dire straits, Gary Moore and an un-healthy amount of heavy and prog rock bands which swung heavily into the blues, with the likes of B.B King, Albert King, Peter Green and many more. I could tell that I had started to get a feel for the guitar when my parents and brothers gradually stopped throwing things at me and telling me to shut up (or words to that effect!).

Once I became confident with my abilities (well, ignorance is bliss!) I started to look for bands to join and other musicians to play with, after about 5 years of playing the odd song or stepping in for a gig or two, I thought that Id never be a guitarist in a band and stopped looking. That’s when I bumped into Paul Henderson in the pub (literally). After boasting a lot and saying that I was fantastic whilst blearily making a complete ass of myself,  I met up with Paul and his bassist Alan, we talked for a few minutes, was thrown a tape with the comments of “ see what you can do with that!”.

I came back with what I had come up with and they both liked it, talk about shocked! Little did I know that what I had done was the first few songs off the album, going on to record the rest with our newly formed band, Cerulean which lasted into 2001.

During this time we had a small line up change with the introduction of a new drummer, Mark who was later called upon to join Aladdinsane. I now play guitar and whatever else we need to create the perfect compliment to Paul’s vocals, and still make a noise that only some people can recognise! Now, it’s onwards and upwards to recreate the sound of David Bowie and strive to achieve the status of the best Bowie tribute band in the country! Hopefully, 2007 may see us in your area, so pop in and say hello!
